Low-cost Indian airline SpiceJet has launched domestic cargo operations covering an initial eight major cities and it intends eventually to fly to all 18 of its destinations.
SpiceJet's B737-800/900ER fleet can carry 2-3.5 tons of cargo on each flight and it operates 118 daily flights with a total capacity of about 350 tons.
The move is in line with the carrier's strategy to increase ancillary revenues to seven per cent by the end of the current Indian financial year.
